Caldonia uses the body to tell stories, explore human experience and make people smile at the unexpected. She utilises tools from contact dance, improvisation practices, text and film to find dance work that explores the everyday alongside the extraordinary.
Her dance work has been shown at The Royal Opera House Linbury Theatre, The Dance Centre (Vancouver), The Southbank Centre, The Place, Ch4 Random Acts, Birmingham International Dance Festival, Swindon Dance, DanceXchange, Edinburgh & Brighton Fringe Festivals, in schools, hospitals and more. She has choreographed and movement directed for music videos, musical theatre and plays.
She holds an MA in Creative Practice from Laban, and teaches Contact Improvisation and Release-based Technique classes in professional, vocational and community settings.
The work Weight/Wait received Arts Council England funding three times for the creation and production of a 40-minute show that toured schools, hospitals and theatres in 2017-2019, culminating in the creation of ALEX The Film in 2021.
Caldonia was the co-director (with Adam Lenson) and choreographer of the musical The Quentin Dentin Show, which has enjoyed production runs at The Edinburgh Fringe (2015) and in London at the Arts Theatre (2016) and Tristan Bates Theatre (2017).
